Luggage is too small!
I packed last night for our trip early, early Saturday morning.....guess what? Everything won't fit. I took out 1/2 of what I'd packed for Alyssa Sofia and it still wouldn't fit. I made a flying trip before work to get more luggage and will repack tonight. Hopefully everything will fit this time!!!! OMG I can't believe I'll hold my baby girl on Saturday!!!!

PINK APPOINTMENT!!!!
We finally have our pink appointment!!! We will travel to Guatemala on March 29th and will hold our beautiful baby girl in our arms for the first time! On March 31st we will go to the US Embassy in Guatemala for our interview (2+ hours in the waiting area). We'll get her Visa on April 1st (better not be a fool's day), then back home on April 2nd. We will have a whirlwind adventure and both planes take off at 6 am! Since we are 1 1/2 hours from the KCI airport and we're supposed to be there 2 hours in advance, we may go up the evening before and stay the night.....not like I'm going to sleep anyway!
Stay tuned for pics of our trip!!!

We are so close to bringing our precious little Sofie home!
Last summer when we started thinking about adopting from Guatemala again, we were unsure of the risks and road blocks we might encounter. Little did we know that we would face the possibility of Guatemala shutting its' borders to adoption forever! After a lot of prayers, sobbing and screaming, the government in Guatemala created new legislature and grandfathered cases that began in 2007. That sounds easy enough, but 3000+ cases had to be registered in the span of about 4-5 days with a newly formed Central Authority. Kudos to them for working well into the night with little more than paper and pencil to record all the precious cases.
This journey was nothing like our journey to adopt our first angel, Kyle, from Guatemala in 2003. Well actually that isn't true.....we are using the same facilitator! Since we accepted Sofia's referral on September 6, 2007, we have been on a roller coaster ride out of this world. I've always been told that God only gives you what he knows you can handle. Apparently he thinks I can handle a lot more than I think I can! There were many days that I thought we wouldn't be able to bring her home. NOT ANYMORE!!!!!
We are waiting to hear if the 2nd DNA was done and on it's way to LabCorp in North Carolina! Once LabCorp does the testing to make sure this sample matches Sofia's original sample perfectly, then they will FedEx the results back to the US Embassy in Guatemala. The US Embassy will then issue a "pink slip". This is your appointment notice with the Embassy. Then we fly!!!!! Anyone that knows me very well, knows that I HATE to fly, but of course, this is so worth it!
